What does a care companion do?

A companion offers company and practical, non-medical support. At Keatings, that includes conversation, hobbies, outings, travel arrangements, meal preparation, light housework and medication reminders. The support for each visit is agreed with you.

Do you provide personal care or nursing?

Our companion service does not include personal care such as bathing, dressing or toileting, physical assistance with eating or drinking, or nursing and clinical treatment. Yvonne’s nursing background informs her approach, but visits are provided as a non-medical companionship service.

How much does companionship cost?

Companionship is £28 per hour, plus travel expenses of 45p per mile when travelling. Visit length, travel arrangements and the expected cost are discussed with you before you book.

Can I enquire on behalf of a family member?

Yes. You are welcome to start the conversation for someone you care about. Their wishes, preferences and involvement are central to discussing suitable support. Please avoid sending private medical information in an initial email.
